Nerves is a mixed media installation composed of rust paintings on metal plates suspended within a metal frame. Oxidation is initiated chemically, allowing rust to spread organically across the surface. The work imagines the human body reduced to nerves alone, stripped of function and left with pure sensation. The front of each plate depicts an upright human figure and is sealed to halt oxidation, while the reverse shows an inverted figure and remains uncoated, continuing to rust throughout the exhibition period. This ongoing corrosion resembles nerves extending outward, suggesting a living system driven by sensitivity, growth, and constant transformation.
