Sleek/Keels
Mixed media on metal

Sleek/Keels is a series of two mixed media works on metal, developed through rusting processes. Oxidation generates unpredictable details and textures, which the artist traces and responds to during painting. The structure resembles a ribcage, mirrored and inverted to form a closed, enclosing body. After rusting, areas of empty space are deliberately covered with layers of black acrylic, compressing the composition and emphasizing its internal rhythm. The title Sleek/Keels can be read both forward and backward, echoing the work’s symmetrical form and cyclical logic.
